I'm a little dizzy... (all together now: "What else is new, Linda?"). This week's challenge at Drunken Stampers is "Circles." Not just a circle. A bunch of circles. Round stuff. Orbs and things like that.
Being the science geek I am, when I got this assignment my mind went swiftly into space (there's a joke in there, somewhere). Planets! They're round. There's a bunch of them, right here in our corner of the galaxy. Eight of 'em, some with moons— also round.
(Sorry, Pluto, you totally got a bum deal.)
So, I used a (round!) embroidery hoop for the base of this little wall hanging, and stretched a piece of Sticky Back canvas inside it (I also backed the canvas with a chipboard disc for support). The spacey background was colored with the Copic Airbrush. The planet photos were printed on matte photo paper, and the lady was stamped onto white tissue. Everything was glued down with Studio Multi Medium. Talking Heads tied it all together with some lyrics, also ink jet printed. I used a silver Krylon pen to fancy up the wooden hoop.
Okay, your turn! Bring on the circles! Show us what you've got! This challenge is open through next Friday, September 17, at the Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog, and we're looking forward to spinning with you. :-)

I'm right there with you in regards to Pluto. How in the world can we be taught about the NINE planets only to be told, Pee Wee Herman style (giggle) "haha - sorry - ONLY eight?!" Sorry. I'm venting. I'm much better now. ahem..love what you made by the way. I've been enjoying the Compendium bits you've also been hosting. I'm not part of it, but am amazed at the art out there! Have a great weekend.

Hi Linda!
I have been a bad blogger lately - I have not been by your blog for a very long time - I am very sorry about that and hope that you will forgive me!
I would love to live in your galaxy! Your galaxy is very cool! Like the face that watches over it all ;o)
Hugs
Gunn
This is very cool Linda! So how do you like the Copic airbrush system ? I only have a couple of the markers and haven't really played with them much yet.
Oh, this is awesome! Just love those colors blended together, and the sentiment and images are so cool! I'll see if I can ...get aROUND to it...hahahaha
Wonderful way with circles you have. I agree on Pluto. At first glance I thought you had used a CD for the large circle. Hmmm...
Happy weekend.
In my solar system, Pluto is still a planet. Also: when I saw this, these lyrics started to swirl in my head: round and round/with love we'll find a way just give it time/ round and round/what comes around, goes around....coming, going, yours --Anne
I love this Linda. And that song! You've got me singing: Got it somewhere: Off to search my album collection...

Ah, I knew that was the Talking Heads. Great work as usual, Linda. Airbrushing? Is it like traditional airbrushing. I really like the effect of the whole piece. :) Theresa
Another fabulous creation! Love stamping on tissue paper!

What a fabulous piece of art, Linda!
Fabulous project, Linda - love the colors, the design, all of it! Now you've got me humming that Talking Heads song, too. (Might have to dig out that album.... er, CD. Albums went the way of Pluto and the USSR! I can't keep up with my kids' homework anymore - everything's changed, LOL!) Have a great weekend!
Love your theme, especially with your central Woman on the Moon!
Really, beautiful designs and colors!
BTW ... somewhat nearer your neck of the woods ... hangin' in Twin Falls. :)
This is so fun, Linda. I love your use of that embroidery hoop! ---And what a great lyric you choose for this piece. Thanks for sharing all the details.
I'm dizzy too, but not for any good reason. I just am. This is neat, and I like how you've used the embroidery hoop.
Very cool wall hanging! Great interpretation of the theme!
I love how you took this challenge, and the final results! Very cool!
